Barrister Zara Shaheen-Awan has a unique blend of litigation, arbitration, corporate and regulation legal practice.
Ms. Shaheen-Awan is an Ambassador for University of Kent in Pakistan. She commenced her legal career with at the chambers of Mr. Abid Zuberi, who is one of the leading litigation attorneys at Karachi specializing in civil litigation. She then joined Pakistan’s leading arbitration and construction lawyer, Mr. Balal A. Khawaja as a senior association focusing on construction litigation and arbitration both under domestic laws as well as international forums and expert adjudication / dispute resolution boards. She has assisted senior counsels before the Supreme Court of Pakistan and has had the privilege of appearing in contentious matters before all the High Courts of Pakistan.
Ms. Shaheen-Awan’s litigation portfolio is complimented by an equally impressive corporate practice having worked as Wi-Tribe’s (leading cable and internet provider) retained corporate consultant. In this capacity, Ms. Shaheen-Awan was responsible for setting up the entire legal framework for Wi-Tribe in Karachi including drafting all contracts and legal documents involved in setting up the infrastructure of the company.
Ms. Shaheen-Awan represents ACLA in Karachi and is also currently the senior advisor for newly set up Power & Energy Department of the Sindh Government and advises on various issues including but not limited to drafting briefs for the Chief Minister, Minister & Secretary for submission to the Council of Common Interests, furnishing legal opinions as well as sitting as a judicial member on the arbitration and dispute resolution tribunal of the Sindh Energy Board.
Ms Shaheen Awan completed her LLB from the University of Kent, she then completed her Barrister’s Training Course in the UK. She is a member of the Hon’ble Society of Lincoln’s Inn, Sindh High Court Bar Association and the Karachi Bar Association
